Pilates

Our experienced, certified Pilates instructors assist both patients that are following a physical therapy program incorporating Pilates exercise, as well as private Pilates instruction for those desiring to incorporate Pilates into their fitness program.

What is Pilates? Pilates is an exercise form that is focused on the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility and physical awareness in order to optimize efficient, graceful movement. It is certainly one of the most popular exercise programs, most likely because it works so well for such a wide variety of people of different ages and degrees of mobility. The goals of Pilates – gaining strength and a longer, leaner physique, ease of pain, stronger core muscles that increase functional movement – can be appreciated by all from professional athletes to grandmothers, to post-operative patients, to postpartum moms, to every population desiring increased fitness.

Pilates combines exercises and focused breathing patterns to teach balance and control of the body, and it is commonly believed that along with increasing your flexibility, strength and balance, it improves your mental health along with your physical health.
